LMT – Leading Metalworking Technologies
Modern, high-performance materials make road vehicles safer, aircraft lighter and engines more efficient. Machining materials such as high-strength steels, alloys of aluminum, magnesium and or titanium, plastics and composite materials nevertheless places the highest possible demands on the tool technology. In order to match precision tools and machining methods optimally to the machines and the workpieces that are to be created, technical engineering knowledge from a variety of disciplines and comprehensive experience are both needed. Because, if they are used properly, precision tools improve the performance of every processing method – in the production of long series as well as at medium-sized companies.
As a specialist in multiple disciplines, the LMT Group combines all the skills of precision tool manufacturers at the forefront of technology. With nearly 2000 employees and a network of specialized partners, LMT offers its customers around the world a comprehensive portfolio of tools, cutting materials and services. More than 50 percent of all the tools are designed by LMT as special tools, carefully tailored to the user's needs. This results in tool solutions that allow their users to sustainably lower production costs and so to gain a competitive advantage.
The LMT Group was founded in 1993 as a part of the Leitz group of companies. The group has been independent since 2009, and consists of the LMT Technology Group, including Belin, Fette, Kieninger and Onsrud, as well as the international marketing company LMT Tool Systems. LMT's headquarters are at Oberkochen. The competence centers for heavy-duty cutting and crankshaft machining, which are operated jointly with the group partner Boehlerit, are also located here. With more than 20 factories, branches and service centers, the group is also represented in every relevant market around the world.
