SpeedCore competition: LMT customers visit Formula One race
The subject of speed is always at the top of the toolmaker’s agenda. SpeedCore, the new hob cutting material, even reflects that in its name. Its significantly improved cutting speeds dramatically increase users’ productivity. “May speeds things up” was the message of the month in the LMT Promotional Calendar, which also spotlighted the high performance of SpeedCore hob cutters. These tools produce up to 50% higher cutting speeds compared to tools made of powder metallurgical high-speed steel (PM-HSS). This impressive figure inspired us to organize a Formula One competition, whose lucky winners received four tickets for the race at the Nürburgring on 24 July. After all, “Need for Speed” is the name of the game not only in motor racing, but also in machining.
The winners were Manfred Vogelsang, Christian Plümer, Werner Kalb and Frank Schwäblein. They visited the race at the end of July with Frank Lommertin, head of the gear-cutting sales segment at LMT. “It was a total success and a wonderful experience,” said Lommertin. “We were equipped with earplugs, T-shirts, caps and rain capes and had even hoped a little for bad weather, since rain races are especially spectacular.” In fact, it stayed dry, and all the winners naturally had a great day out nonetheless.
